According to police reports, a 38-year-old man from Braintree, Paul McPhetres, was arrested on March 31, 2026, on Pleasant Street in Randolph. The Vermont State Police say that McPhetres was identified during a criminal investigation linked to a theft case in the area.

During the investigation, police discovered that McPhetres had outstanding warrants for multiple misdemeanor retail thefts in Windsor and Orange counties. Additionally, he was found in possession of methamphetamine. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Royalton Barracks, where he received citations for the various charges before being lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility.

McPhetres faces multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine and two counts of arrest warrants for retail theft. His initial court appearance regarding the warrants is scheduled for April 1, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. in Windsor, followed by a court date for the possession charge on June 3, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. in Orange.
