Sharon woman arrested for DUI after vehicle crash, police say

Vermont State Police say a 67-year-old woman from Sharon was arrested following a single-vehicle crash on VT Route 132 on May 8. Authorities responded to the incident around 5:10 PM, where they found a Hyundai Santa Fe off the road and in a ditch.

According to police reports, the driver, identified as Martha Austin, exhibited signs of impairment during the investigation. She was subsequently taken to the Royalton barracks for processing. Austin has been charged with DUI #2 and is scheduled to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on May 26 at 8:30 AM.

No injuries were reported in the crash, and the vehicle was deemed totaled. The court date and charges may change as the case progresses. Police encourage the public to contact the criminal court clerk for confirmation of the arraignment time.
