According to police reports, a traffic stop on Interstate 89 North near Exit 15 in Winooski led to the arrest of 33-year-old Mercedes Sweetser from Milton, Vermont, on November 2, 2025, around 9:44 PM. Vermont State Police discovered a disabled vehicle and identified Sweetser as the operator.

During the investigation, police say Sweetser provided a false name and was found to have an active warrant for failure to appear in court. Authorities also determined that she was driving with a criminally suspended license and did not have an Ignition Interlock Device installed, as required.
