Vermont State Police say a crash on Basin Harbor Road in Ferrisburgh on March 27, 2026, resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old Vergennes resident, Matthew Stanley, who is accused of driving under the influence and grossly negligent operation of a vehicle. The incident occurred around 6:01 PM, when Stanley reportedly lost control of his vehicle, veering off the road and striking a parked car along with four pedestrians, including 43-year-old Benjamin Cosabic and three juveniles aged 10, 11, and 12.
According to police, indicators of impairment were observed during the investigation, leading to Stanley’s transport to the New Haven State Police Barracks for processing. The injured parties were taken to UVM Medical Center, where they are suspected to have sustained moderate injuries.
