Vermont State Police say a single-vehicle crash on Creek Road in Clarendon resulted in the death of a 16-year-old driver on May 8, 2026. The incident occurred around 2:39 PM when authorities were alerted to the scene.
According to police reports, Jacob Smith of Proctor was driving a 2006 Volkswagen Passat southbound on Creek Road when he lost control of the vehicle. Investigators determined that Smith failed to maintain his lane, causing the car to veer off the road and collide head-on with a tree. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Clarendon Fire Department, Regional Ambulance Service, and the Vermont State Police Victim Services Unit assisted at the scene.
