Canaan man arrested for aggravated domestic assault, police say

Vermont State Police say a 43-year-old man from Canaan was arrested early April 26 following an alleged domestic assault. Police reports indicate that Michael Lima is charged with first-degree aggravated domestic assault and interference with access to emergency services.

According to the report, officers responded to a residence at approximately 3 a.m. after receiving a report of the incident. Investigators determined that Lima had caused significant bodily harm to a household member and had disrupted emergency communications by unplugging a Wi-Fi connection. Lima reportedly left the scene before law enforcement arrived but was apprehended a few hours later and taken to the Derby Barracks for processing.

Lima is scheduled to appear in Orleans County Superior Court on April 27 at 12:30 p.m. He is currently lodged at the Northern State Correctional Facility with bail set at $2,500.
