We take accuracy seriously. If you spot something we got wrong, want to share a story tip, or need to reach the newsroom for any other reason, use the form below — we read every message.

Corrections

VTScout corrects substantive errors of fact promptly. This page is our public log. Minor typos and grammar fixes are made silently; corrections that change meaning, names, charges, dates, or quoted statements are noted here and at the top of the affected story.

To request a correction, email our newsroom with the URL of the story and a description of the issue. We aim to respond within one business day.

How corrections are labeled

  • Correction — a factual error has been fixed (e.g., a wrong name, age, address, or charge).
  • Clarification — the original was accurate but ambiguous; the rewording removes confusion.
  • Update — new information has changed the story (e.g., charges dropped, suspect identified, additional injuries).

Recent corrections

(No corrections logged at this time.)

This page is updated on a rolling basis. Older corrections older than one year may be archived but remain on the original story.

Frequently asked questions.

How do I request a correction?

Use the form on this page and include the article URL, the specific error, and what should appear instead. We respond to every correction request within 24 hours during business days. Significant corrections are timestamped on the article and indexed on this page.

How fast does VTScout respond to corrections?

Within one business day. Most fixes are published the same day the request is filed. Complex cases involving disputed facts or sourced claims may take longer while we verify.

What counts as a correction versus an update?

A correction fixes a factual error — a wrong name, date, age, charge, or attribution. An update reflects new information that has changed the story — for example, charges being dropped, a suspect identified, or additional injuries reported. A clarification rewords accurate but ambiguous language.

Will VTScout remove an article entirely if I ask?

We do not remove published articles in the normal course. We will correct factual errors, add updates when new information surfaces, and remove content that turns out to be defamatory or that legal counsel determines should not have been published. Editorial disagreement is not grounds for removal.

Are my contact details kept private?

Yes. Tip and correction submissions are confidential. We do not publish your name without explicit permission and do not share your contact information with third parties. For sensitive matters we accept tips via Signal — we will share the number on request.

Does VTScout publish anonymous tips?

We accept anonymous tips and verify them against named sources, public records, or documented observation before publishing. Anonymity protects the tipster; it does not change our verification standards.
