Vermont State Police say a single-vehicle crash on Old Sawmill Road in Orwell on March 15 resulted in serious injuries and one fatality. The incident occurred around 5:33 PM when the vehicle, driven by 27-year-old Aron G. Therrien of Brandon, struck trees, leaving both the driver and his passenger trapped inside.

According to police reports, emergency responders from the Orwell Fire Department extricated the occupants. Therrien was airlifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. His passenger, 28-year-old Michael Guess, also from Brandon, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities suspect that alcohol and speed may have played a role in the crash. Charges against Therrien are pending as the inquiry continues.
