Vermont State Police say a Readsboro man has been charged with aggravated operation without owner’s consent following an incident on March 9, 2026. Authorities were alerted to the theft of a vehicle belonging to 70-year-old Susan G. Saylor around 10:31 a.m.
According to police reports, 43-year-old Joshua T. Johnston allegedly took Saylor’s vehicle without her permission. The stolen car was later located in Massachusetts by the North Adams Police Department. After the vehicle was recovered and returned to Saylor, troopers made contact with Johnston, who received a citation.
Johnston is set to appear in the Vermont Superior Court’s Bennington Criminal Division on May 11, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. According to the report, all charges are allegations at this stage, and court dates are subject to change as the case progresses.
