New Haven snowmobile crash injures operator, police say

In New Haven, Vermont, police say Timothy Cousino, 46, faces charges following a snowmobile crash with a truck on US RT 7, resulting in moderate injuries.

According to police reports, a snowmobile and truck collision occurred on February 27, 2026, at approximately 10:22 PM at the intersection of US Route 7 and Trail #17 in New Haven. Timothy Cousino, a 46-year-old resident of Bristol, was operating a 2004 Arctic Cat F7 when he allegedly failed to stop at the trail’s end, resulting in a collision with a 2022 Ford F-350 driven by Gary Boutin, also 46, from East Middlebury.

Police say Cousino sustained suspected moderate injuries and was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment. In contrast, Boutin, who was wearing a seatbelt, reported no injuries. The crash caused significant damage to Cousino’s snowmobile while Boutin’s truck sustained minor damage.

Criminal charges against Cousino are pending, along with a Vermont Civil Violation Complaint. The case is set to be handled in the Addison County Superior Court – Criminal Division, with a court date yet to be determined. As the investigation continues, the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under review, and the charges should be considered allegations until proven in court.
