Fletcher man cited for leaving the scene of a crash, police say

In St. Albans, VT, police say Christopher Seagroves, 35, faces charges of aggravated assault and leaving the scene of a crash with injury.

According to police reports, a 35-year-old man from Fletcher, Christopher Seagroves, has been charged in connection with a road rage incident that occurred on February 23, 2026. The Vermont State Police say Seagroves was identified as the operator of a dark-colored Audi SUV involved in a collision on Interstate 89 northbound at exit 20, which forced another vehicle off the roadway.

Following an investigation, Seagroves received a citation for several offenses, including aggravated assault, gross negligent operation, leaving the scene of an accident with resulting injuries, and driving with a suspended license. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Brian Hathaway from Fairfax, sustained minor injuries due to the incident, and his vehicle was severely damaged.

Seagroves is scheduled for arraignment at 8 a.m. on June 8, 2026, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in St. Albans.
