According to police reports, a road rage incident on February 23, 2026, on Interstate 89 northbound at exit 20 led to charges against 35-year-old Christopher Seagroves of Fletcher, Vermont. The Vermont State Police identified Seagroves as the driver of a dark-colored Audi SUV involved in the collision that resulted in minor injuries to 40-year-old Brian Hathaway of Fairfax.

After an investigation, police say Seagroves has been charged with aggravated assault, gross negligent operation, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, and driving with a suspended license. The incident occurred when Hathaway’s vehicle was sideswiped and forced off the roadway. Following the collision, the suspect vehicle fled the scene, traveling east on Highgate Road.

Seagroves is scheduled for arraignment at 8 a.m. on June 8, 2026, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior in St. Albans.
