Rutland woman cited for transporting contraband into detention, police say

Vermont State Police say a 27-year-old woman from Rutland, Nichole LaFrancois, has been issued a citation for allegedly transporting contraband into the Marble Valley Correctional Center during a visit on April 4, 2026. Police report that LaFrancois brought marijuana and tobacco to the facility while visiting inmate Jacob Alberico.

When LaFrancois arrived at the Vermont State Police barracks in Rutland to receive her citation, authorities discovered she had an outstanding arrest warrant related to a separate retail theft case from Bennington. Following this, she was taken to Rutland Court, where she posted $200 bail for her release.

LaFrancois is scheduled to appear in Rutland Criminal Court on May 18, 2026, at 10 AM to address the charges against her.
