Vermont State Police say a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 89 in Richmond late Monday night resulted in the arrest of a 31-year-old Burlington man for driving under the influence. The incident occurred on March 17, 2026, around 10:37 PM, at mile marker 74.8.
According to police reports, troopers responded to the scene of the accident, where they found a Cadillac XT4 that had left the roadway and collided with a guardrail. Upon interacting with the driver, identified as Angus G. Purvee, officers noted signs of impairment. Following their investigation, Purvee was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and subsequently transported to the Williston Barracks for processing. He has been issued a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court for his charge on April 7, 2026, at 8:30 AM.
