Vermont State Police say a two-vehicle collision occurred on Lackey Hill Road in St. Johnsbury on January 17, 2026, around 2:14 PM. The incident involved a town plow truck and a Chevrolet Silverado, both operated by local residents.
According to police reports, Caleb Smith, 24, was driving the plow truck when he reversed in an attempt to turn onto an adjacent road. He failed to notice the Silverado, operated by 35-year-old Thomas Allen, behind him, leading to a crash. The plow truck sustained damage to its salt spreader but was able to be driven away from the scene. The Silverado, however, experienced moderate front-end damage and was towed from the location. Fortunately, no injuries were reported for either driver.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and no charges have been filed at this time. As the case develops, charges and details may change. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
