Vermont State Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred on Burpee Road near VT Route 17 in Bristol on December 13 at approximately 12:40 PM. The crash involved a 2000 Ford F-350 operated by Benjamin Fitzgerald, 40, of Colchester, and a 2021 Ram 1500 driven by Craig Dumas, 71, of Bristol.
According to the report, vehicle #2 was slowing down to turn into a driveway when vehicle #1 failed to stop in time, resulting in a collision that caused front-end damage to Fitzgerald’s vehicle and rear-end damage to Dumas’s vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and both operators were wearing their seat belts at the time of the incident.
Fitzgerald has been charged with operating without liability insurance under 23 V.S.A. 800(a). The legal proceedings will determine the outcome of these allegations, and the case is subject to change as it progresses through the court system.
