According to police reports, a 40-year-old man from Westfield, Vermont, was charged with multiple offenses following an altercation with family members on January 1, 2026. Vermont State Police responded to a report of a fight on South Pleasant Street in Troy, where they found Ryan Bathalon allegedly engaging in violent and threatening behavior toward relatives.
Police say that Bathalon was accused of simple assault against three individuals: Denis Bathalon, 68, of Newport Town; Ethan Bathalon, 35, of Westfield; and Robert Bathalon, 66, also of Westfield. No serious injuries were reported from the incident. Prior to the officers’ arrival, Bathalon left the scene but was later located at his home and taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Bathalon was processed at the Derby Barracks and released with a citation to appear in court. He is scheduled to face the charges in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Newport on January 27, 2026, at 8:30 AM. The allegations against him remain unproven until a court determination is made.
