According to police reports, a traffic stop on US Route 7 in Shaftsbury, Vermont, on February 2 led to the arrest of 30-year-old Isaac Rieder from Suffern, New York. Officers observed Rieder’s vehicle traveling southbound at a speed of 90 mph, significantly exceeding the 55 mph speed limit.

The incident occurred around 2:59 PM when a trooper from the Vermont State Police used radar to confirm the excessive speed. Upon stopping the vehicle, police say Rieder was accompanied by one adult and two juveniles, including a toddler. Following the stop, Rieder was charged with excessive speed and reckless endangerment.

Rieder received a criminal citation and is scheduled to appear in the Vermont Superior Court – Bennington Criminal Division on March 30, 2026, at 8:00 AM. He was also issued a civil violation complaint pertaining to the speeding offense, which includes a waiver fee of $530 and two points on his driving record. Police note that charges are allegations, and the court date is subject to change as the case progresses.
