Vermont State Police say a single-vehicle crash on US Route 7 in Shaftsbury occurred on February 5, 2026, at approximately 7:29 PM. The driver, 21-year-old Alex Joseph Brown of Bennington, was found to have driven off the road near mile marker 18.6. According to police reports, there were no injuries reported, and damage was limited to Brown’s 2016 Jeep Cherokee.
While investigating the scene, officers noted signs of impairment in Brown. As a result, he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Following his arrest, Brown was transported to the Shaftsbury Barracks for processing, where he received a citation and was subsequently released.
