Vermont State Police say a crash early January 11 in Saint Johnsbury led to the arrest of a 37-year-old local resident on suspicion of driving under the influence. The incident occurred around 1:26 a.m. at the intersection of Depot Hill Road and Model A Drive.

According to police reports, officers from the Saint Johnsbury Barracks responded to the scene and identified the driver as Zachary Mayhew. During their interaction with Mayhew, officers noted signs of impairment, prompting further investigation. As a result, he was charged with DUI refusal and negligent operation of a vehicle. Mayhew’s vehicle, a 2026 GMC Sierra, sustained substantial damage, although no injuries were reported.
