According to police reports, a 35-year-old man from Bennington, Christopher P. Russell, was charged with operating a vehicle without consent and driving with a criminally suspended license. The incident occurred on December 29, 2025, in Pownal, Vermont, following a report of a stolen vehicle made by 54-year-old Tammy Ducette.
Police say that after Ducette reported her car stolen, an investigation revealed that Russell had taken the vehicle without her permission. A check with the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles indicated that Russell was driving on a suspended license. The stolen vehicle was later recovered, and Russell was located with the help of Bennington Probation and Parole.
Russell has been issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court – Bennington Criminal Division on March 2, 2026, at 8:15 AM. He is not currently in custody, and there is no bail set.
