According to police reports, a 35-year-old man from Bennington, Christopher P. Russell, was charged with operating a vehicle without consent and driving with a criminally suspended license. The incident occurred on December 29, 2025, in Pownal, Vermont, following a report of a stolen vehicle made by 54-year-old Tammy Ducette.

Police say that after Ducette reported her car stolen, an investigation revealed that Russell had taken the vehicle without her permission. A check with the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles indicated that Russell was driving on a suspended license. The stolen vehicle was later recovered, and Russell was located with the help of Bennington Probation and Parole.

Russell has been issued a citation to appear in the Vermont Superior Court – Bennington Criminal Division on March 2, 2026, at 8:15 AM. He is not currently in custody, and there is no bail set. Charges against Russell remain allegations at this time, and court dates may be subject to change as the legal process unfolds.
