Newbury woman involved in crash with deer on I-91, police say

In Newbury, Vermont, police say Rachel Whitehead, 34, struck a deer on I-91 south, causing moderate damage to her vehicle. No injuries reported.

Vermont State Police say a vehicle collision involving a deer occurred on February 17, 2026, at approximately 9:52 AM on Interstate 91 South in Newbury. The incident took place near mile marker 106 while snow was falling, contributing to wet road conditions.

According to the report, Rachel Whitehead, a 34-year-old resident of Concord, was driving southbound when a deer entered the roadway. Despite her efforts to avoid the animal, her 2022 Toyota Rav4 struck the deer. The front passenger side of Whitehead’s vehicle sustained moderate damage and was subsequently towed from the scene by Trahan Towing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
