According to police reports, a Monkton man is facing serious allegations following a reported fraud incident on February 2, 2026. Vermont State Police say they responded to a call regarding a fraudulent sale involving a 2007 Toyota Tundra, which was sold by 53-year-old Brian Russin to 41-year-old Gheit Shafter of West Haven, Connecticut, under false pretenses.
Investigators found that Russin not only misrepresented the sale but also provided false information to law enforcement in an attempt to mislead the investigation. Police have been unsuccessful in locating Russin and have requested an arrest warrant for his apprehension. They are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts or the vehicle to contact the New Haven Barracks at 802-388-4919.
Legal proceedings are forthcoming, with a court date yet to be established in Addison County. The charges against Russin remain allegations at this stage, and details regarding bail and lodging are also pending. As the case progresses, court dates and charges may be subject to change.
