Vermont State Police say a Grand Isle man has been charged following an investigation into an alleged incident involving a minor. Cole Botala, 27, is accused of inappropriately touching a girl under the age of 16 in August 2025.
According to police reports, the Northwest Unit for Special Investigations received information regarding the incident, which involved Botala and the juvenile, who was known to him. As a result of the investigation, he has been charged with attempted sexual assault with a child and lewd and lascivious conduct with a child. Botala was arrested and subsequently released on citation.
He is scheduled to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Grand Isle Criminal Division, on January 8, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. The charges against Botala are allegations, and the legal process will determine the outcome as the case progresses. Police stress that court dates and charges may change as further developments occur.
