According to police reports, a single-vehicle accident in East Montpelier on January 15, 2026, resulted in the arrest of 33-year-old Matthew Loignon from Manchester, New Hampshire. The incident occurred around 5:30 PM at the intersection of Factory Street and Vermont Route 14, where Loignon was found to be operating his vehicle under the influence.

Vermont State Police responded to the crash, which caused minimal damage to Loignon’s 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan. No injuries were reported at the scene. After a thorough investigation, authorities arrested Loignon for driving under the influence (DUI) and transported him to the Berlin Barracks for processing. He has since been released with a criminal citation.
