Colchester man cited for leaving the scene of an accident, police say

Vermont State Police say a two-vehicle accident on I-89 South near Exit 17 in Colchester on November 24, 2025, has led to charges against a 45-year-old St. Albans resident. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. when a gray sedan collided with another vehicle operated by 38-year-old Evan Hall from Milton. The driver of the gray sedan left the scene, but police later identified him as Terry Coppenger.

Coppenger has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the collision. He is scheduled to appear in Chittenden County Criminal Division on March 5, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. to respond to the allegations against him.
