According to police reports, Vermont State Police are investigating a reported burglary attempt at the Willoughby Lake Store on Route 5A in Westmore. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on February 8, 2026, when the store owner alerted authorities after reviewing surveillance footage.

The footage shows two males arriving in a blue Subaru Outback. They attempted to break into the store by using a crowbar to smash the front door window but were unsuccessful. The suspects fled the scene shortly after the attempt. One individual was described as wearing loose blue jeans, tan boots, and a dark hoodie, while the other was seen in black pants and a red-and-black jacket, both wearing face coverings.
