Vermont State Police say a single-vehicle crash on Pearl Street in Brandon occurred early on January 8, 2026, resulting in the arrest of a 27-year-old driver. According to police reports, Idris Atwood of Poultney was involved in the accident around 1:32 AM when his Chevrolet Silverado struck a tree.

Upon arrival, officers noted signs of impairment while speaking with Atwood. He underwent screening and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the incident, and Atwood was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Atwood was taken to the Rutland City Police Department for processing and was subsequently released with a citation.
