Vermont State Police say a traffic stop on December 12 in Bethel resulted in the arrest of a 52-year-old woman for driving under the influence and drug possession. According to police reports, Trooper Elisabeth Plympton initiated the stop on VT Route 107 at approximately 10:09 PM after observing a traffic violation.
During the encounter, the driver, identified as Mellissa Forsythe of Royalton, exhibited signs of impairment. Following further investigation, she was arrested on suspicion of DUI. A search incident to her arrest revealed that she was in possession of cocaine. Forsythe was taken to the Royalton State Police Barracks for processing and later issued a criminal citation before being released.
Forsythe is scheduled to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on February 3, 2026, at 8:30 AM. Police note that the charges against her are allegations at this stage, and the court date is subject to change as the case progresses.
