Vermont State Police say a traffic stop on Main Street in Barton on January 26 led to the arrest of a 49-year-old man charged with driving under the influence and operating a vehicle on a criminally suspended license.
According to police reports, officers observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop. Upon approaching the vehicle, troopers noted that the driver and passenger appeared to switch seats. The driver was identified as Marcel Cotnoir of Barton, who showed signs of impairment. He was subsequently arrested and processed at the Derby Barracks before being taken to the Northern State Correctional Facility.
Cotnoir is scheduled to appear in Orleans County District Court on January 27 at 12:30 p.m. The charges against him remain allegations at this time, and the court date is subject to change.
