Richmond man cited for excessive speed and negligent operation, police say

In Richmond, VT, police say Tyquann Lane, 32, was charged with excessive speed and negligent operation after traveling 109 mph on I-89.

Vermont State Police say a traffic enforcement operation on Interstate 89 North in Richmond resulted in the issuance of a criminal citation to a 32-year-old driver. The incident occurred on May 4, 2026, around 2:23 PM, when officers observed a vehicle exceeding the posted speed limit of 65 mph. According to police, the vehicle was recorded traveling at 109 mph using LIDAR technology.

The driver, identified as Tyquann Lane of South Burlington, was stopped without incident. He has been charged with excessive speed and negligent operation. Following the stop, police issued Lane a citation to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court – Criminal Division on June 16, 2026, at 8:30 AM to address the charges.
