Police allege that Metcalfe had stolen a vehicle in Hoosick Falls, New York, earlier that night and abandoned it on railroad tracks in Shaftsbury before attempting to enter the residence. Upon his arrest, Metcalfe reportedly attempted to seize a trooper’s firearm while at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, which led to further charges.
