According to police reports, a physical altercation on March 29, 2026, at approximately 2:22 a.m. on Main Street in Montgomery led to the arrest of 44-year-old Jarek Coriell. Vermont State Police responded to a disturbance outside a residence and found Coriell and 37-year-old John Cosgrove, both local residents.

Following an investigation, police say Coriell was charged with aggravated assault. He was taken into custody without incident and subsequently transported to the St. Albans Barracks for processing. Cosgrove was treated for his injuries at Northwestern Medical Center.

Coriell is being held at the Northwest State Correctional Facility with bail set at $1,000. He is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Superior Court on March 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. The charges against Coriell are currently allegations, and the legal proceedings will continue to evolve as the case progresses.
