According to police reports, a fire at a residence on West Hill Road in Montgomery early Sunday morning resulted in the discovery of human remains. The Montgomery Fire Department responded to the scene around 5 a.m. on March 15, 2026, where they found the home fully engulfed in flames and partially collapsed. Reports indicate that an elderly homeowner was unaccounted for during the incident.
The Department of Public Safety’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit was called to assist in determining the fire’s origin and to help identify any potential victims. During the investigation, remains of an unidentified individual were found within the structure.
