According to police reports, a two-vehicle crash occurred on March 4, 2026, around 5:35 PM on Vermont Route 110 near Moxley Road in Chelsea. The incident involved an 81-year-old driver, Everet Jones Jr. of Corinth, who was traveling south when he allegedly crossed the centerline and collided with a vehicle operated by 70-year-old Peter Clark of Chelsea.

Police say that after the collision, Jones’s vehicle became disabled further down the road. Fortunately, neither driver sustained significant injuries; however, both vehicles were reported as totaled. An investigation revealed that Jones was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Jones was arrested on suspicion of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. He was taken to the Royalton barracks for processing and later released on a citation. According to the report, he is scheduled to appear in Orange County Criminal Court on March 25, 2026, at 8:30 AM. The charges against him are allegations at this stage, and court dates may change as the case progresses.
