According to police reports, a 42-year-old Montpelier resident, Cormick Cantwell, was arrested on February 28, 2026, following a report of violations of his release conditions. Vermont State Police say that Cantwell was apprehended after he allegedly made 28 calls to the State Police dispatch center over three days, which disrupted operations.

Cantwell faces multiple charges, including 34 counts of violating conditions of release, three counts of criminal threatening, and 28 counts of disorderly conduct via electronic communications. Officers from the Montpelier Police Department, alongside Berlin-based troopers, arrested him and transported him to the Berlin Barracks for processing.

He was subsequently held on a $1,000 bail and transferred to the Northeast Correctional Complex. Cantwell has been issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Washington Criminal Division, at 12:30 p.m. on March 2, 2026.
