Vermont State Police say a two-vehicle collision occurred on February 28, 2026, around 8:46 a.m. at the intersection of Vermont Route 17 East and VT Route 116 South in Bristol. The crash involved a Subaru Forrester driven by 49-year-old Tina Robinson of Castleton and a Toyota 4Runner operated by 35-year-old James Lane from Black River, New York.
According to police reports, Lane was traveling eastbound on VT Route 17 and came to a complete stop at a stop sign before proceeding into the intersection. Meanwhile, Robinson was heading north on VT Route 116 South and failed to stop at the posted sign, resulting in her vehicle being struck on the driver’s side by Lane’s vehicle. Robinson sustained minor injuries and was transported to Porter Hospital, while Lane and his passenger were unharmed.
Robinson is charged with violating traffic regulations regarding stop signs, facing a fine of $162 and two points on her driving record. The investigation continues, and Robinson’s legal status will be updated as the case progresses. No court date has been specified at this time.
