According to police reports, a wrong-way crash on Interstate 89 in Bolton on December 17, 2025, resulted in one fatality and serious injuries to another driver. Vermont State Police say Timothy Wooster, 45, of Jericho, was driving north in the southbound lanes when he collided head-on with a vehicle operated by 21-year-old Hailey Westcot of Northfield, who died on the scene.

The incident occurred around 5:22 p.m., with police stating Wooster had traveled approximately 1.5 miles in the wrong direction before the crash. In addition to Westcot’s death, Wooster sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center. A third vehicle was also involved, driven by 50-year-old Douglas Bailey from Londonderry, New Hampshire, who reported no injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Wooster has been charged with second-degree murder, grossly negligent operation with death resulting, and multiple counts of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. He is scheduled for arraignment at 10:30 a.m. on March 12, 2026, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Burlington. These charges are allegations, and further details will be made public following the arraignment.
