Vermont State Police say a traffic stop in Derby on Tuesday evening resulted in the arrest of a local man on multiple charges. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 7:30 PM when officers initiated the stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation.

During the stop, police say they discovered that the driver, identified as a 34-year-old Derby resident, was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. Furthermore, he was charged with possession of a controlled substance after officers reportedly found illegal drugs in the vehicle. The man was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Derby Barracks for processing.

Authorities have stated that the charges against him are allegations at this stage. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday to face the charges. Police remind the public that the legal process is ongoing, and the situation may evolve as the case progresses.
