According to police reports, a 26-year-old man from Glover, Vermont, was arrested early January 25, 2026, following a series of incidents involving vehicle theft at the Union House Nursing Home on Glover Street. Vermont State Police say Arnaud Gerlus allegedly took a vehicle that had been started to warm up by an employee and fled the scene toward Barton.

Further reports indicated that Gerlus crashed the stolen vehicle on Vermont Route 16 and attempted to commandeer another vehicle from a passerby who had stopped to help. He fled on foot to a nearby residence, where police located him inside another vehicle and took him into custody. Gerlus was transported to North Country Hospital for treatment of cold weather injuries before being processed at the Derby barracks.

He has been charged with aggravated operation without consent, operation without consent, larceny, unlawful trespass into a motor vehicle (three counts), and leaving the scene of an accident. Gerlus is currently held at Northern State Correctional Facility on a $25,000 bail. He is scheduled for arraignment on January 26, 2026, at 12:30 PM in Orleans Criminal Court. All charges are allegations at this stage of the legal process.
