According to police reports, two residents from Swanton have been charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on December 3, 2025, at a home on Cook Road in Highgate. The suspects, 41-year-old Eric Smith and 31-year-old Sabrena Murray, were arrested on January 14, 2026, following an investigation by the Vermont State Police.

Police say Smith faces charges including burglary into an occupied dwelling, assault, and robbery. Murray is charged with burglary into an occupied dwelling, aiding in the commission of a felony, possession of stolen property, and providing false information to a police officer. Both suspects were apprehended without incident at a residence in Swanton, with Smith’s bail set at $10,000 and Murray’s at $2,500.

They are scheduled for arraignment at 1 p.m. on January 15, 2026, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in St. Albans.
