Vermont State Police say a single-vehicle crash occurred early on December 18, 2025, on I-89 Northbound in Colchester. The incident, which took place around 12:14 a.m. near mile marker 95, involved a 2015 GMC Sierra operated by 27-year-old Mason Vieta from Franklin.
According to police reports, Vieta’s vehicle left the roadway and came to rest in the median, sustaining side damage. Upon arrival, troopers detected signs of impairment while speaking with Vieta. As a result, he was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and taken to the Williston Barracks for processing. Vieta was subsequently released with a citation to appear in court.
He is scheduled to answer to the DUI charge at the Chittenden County Superior Court on January 8, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. According to the report, all charges are allegations, and the court date and time may change as the case progresses.
