Vermont State Police say a 68-year-old man from Brattleboro was arrested late Tuesday night following a single-vehicle crash on US Route 7 in Dorset. The incident occurred around 11:34 PM on December 10, 2025, prompting a response from troopers at the Shaftsbury Barracks.
According to police, when officers arrived at the scene, they identified the driver as Leo J. Bartoli. During their interaction with Bartoli, they noted several signs of impairment. After further investigations, he was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, as well as charges of refusal to provide a sample and impeding public officers. Bartoli was subsequently transported to the Bennington Police Department for evaluation and processing.
He has been issued a citation to appear in the Bennington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on December 29, 2025, at 8:30 AM. Police remind the public that the charges are allegations, and the court date is subject to change.
