Vermont State Police say a 45-year-old Newport resident was arrested on December 6, 2025, following an incident at Price Chopper in Derby, where he allegedly left the store with unpaid merchandise. According to police reports, Daniel Morrow was found near Walmart in Derby after he reportedly walked away with a shopping cart full of items without paying.

Troopers responded to a call regarding the incident and attempted to apprehend Morrow, who allegedly tried to evade arrest. He was subsequently taken into custody and processed at the Derby Barracks before being released with a citation. Morrow is charged with theft and resisting arrest, according to the report.

Morrow is scheduled to appear in Orleans court on January 27, 2026, at 8:00 AM.
